Responsibilities
The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology at the University of South Alabama is seeking a BC/BE non-invasive cardiologist to join a collaborative group of academic cardiologists. The division includes an established cardiovascular disease fellowship training program, an ICAEL accredited Echo lab and an ICANL accredited Nuclear Lab, and the regions only Level I Trauma Center. Cardiac invasive and interventional services and a comprehensive cardiac surgery program are available. Commitment to clinical service and teaching duties are the highlights of this position. Research opportunities and faculty mentoring are also available.
Faculty expectations include:
* Staffing the non-invasive laboratory overseeing the performance of stress testing with or without imaging, electrocardiograms, ambulatory ECGs, echocardiograms, transthoracic and transesophageal, and elective cardioversions
* Providing outpatient cardiology clinic coverage, with a wide patient referral base. Supervise cardiology fellows' outpatient clinics
* Instructing medical students and trainees in ACGME-approved internal medicine and family practice residencies, and cardiovascular diseases fellowship on inpatient services and in the Heart Center
* Working collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams of other faculty physicians, trainees, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other staff members
* Collaborative on quality initiatives, including the cardiothoracic surgery Heart team quality improvement project and the Heart Failure Team project
Required Skills:
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Cardiology,
Board Certified/Eligible, Level II or Ill training in Echocardiography and transesophageal Echocardiography
Board Certified/Board Eligible, Level II training in Nuclear Cardiology
Experience in peripheral vascular imaging and cardiac CT imaging
