Job Description
We invite applicants for the IT Support Specialist position in the College of Science. This onsite position is primarily responsible for providing IT support to the Dean's Suite personnel and will also assist other units within the College of Science as needed.
A successful IT Support Specialist:
Will be proactive and self-motivated, able to problem solve and complete defined tasks and projects with little oversight. Has excellent communication skills to interact with faculty, staff, students, and guests in a professional manner. Thrives in a team environment with a diverse group of people.
Supports the department by managing and administering IT infrastructure, completing tasks like installing, patching, and repairing PC hardware, software, conferencing equipment, and peripherals. Responds quickly to support requests for laptop/desktop computers, software, printers, copiers, and other technology needs. Manages both Windows and MAC endpoints using endpoint management software to ensure compliance with security standards, software entitlements, and configuration best practices.
Maintains IT operational excellence and minimizes risk by adhering to College and University IT security practices, maintaining secure and safe IT infrastructure, managing and monitoring data backups, and implementing best practices where applicable. Coordinates IT asset activities, including procurement, inventory management, asset surplus, and responding to organizational IT risk assessments and IT audit requests.
Provides end-user training in 1:1 and small group settings focusing on college and university IT initiatives like ZOOM phones, Office 365, and other academic technologies. Participates in college and university IT working groups and committees as needed.
Is able to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students, and is able to facilitate meetings within the college and serve as the Director of IT's counterpart.

Required Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge and experience supporting a broad range of IT equipment and software including installing, maintaining, and repairing computers, peripherals, and conferencing equipment in an educational, office or enterprise setting.
Strong working knowledge managing both Windows and Apple operating systems in either an educational, office or enterprise setting.
Experience managing computer assets, purchasing IT equipment, and inventory tracking.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a technical computer-oriented field or related certifications, or equivalent experience.
Previous experience in an academic environment.
