Your role at GEI.   GEI is seeking an experienced NSPS Certified Hydrographer and Senior Engineer with working knowledge of single-beam, multi-beam and side-scan sonar data collection and processing. This individual will support GEI projects with hydrographic data collection and grow GEI’s hydrographic services – including cable lay design, scour monitoring, and dredge monitoring. The position is on-call and fully remote and will involve travel throughout the United States.     Essential Responsibilities & Duties 
  • Work effectively in a fully remote position with frequent travel through the United States.
  • Support hydrographic data collection and processing, and train others.
  • Participate in client meetings to inform project execution, assist in developing schedules, and provide quality reviews of hydrographic work performed by GEI and other subconsultants.
  • Exemplify commitment to technical excellence balanced with client-expectations and satisfaction, and profitable project management.
  • Serve as a role model for leadership, company culture, and values.
  • Contribute to strategic planning at the office, regional, and national level.
  • Work with the marketing team and others to develop GEI “brand” within practice.
  • Develop a networking relationship with practitioners across the company. 
Minimum Qualifications 
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree, with preference to an M.S. degree and professional licensing (i.e., P.E.) in a state where GEI is currently engaged.
  • Minimum 20 years of direct hydrographic survey/consulting experience in the U.S., including offshore work in the Gulf of Mexico.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and permitting programs, as applicable to services rendered, at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. 
  • Senior Leader recognized for technical excellence and the development of client-focused, creative and practical solutions.
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to GEI offices and project/client sites as required. 
  • Current OSHA 30-hr training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
