Purpose Statement:
Northstar Behavioral Health Network Intensive Residential Services IRTS is a team of professionals that specialize in co-occurring treatment through a multi-faceted programming structure for those battling mental health and substance use disorders.

Requirements:

Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Functions)

  • Promote recovery and psychiatric stability using established rehabilitative principles
    and best practices.
  • Create and update person centered treatment plans with clients and necessary assessments including but not limited to; Functional Assessments, locus and crisis plans.
  • Complete Diagnostic Assessments within 10 days of recipient admission.
  • Complete Substance Use Assessments 30 days of recipient admission.
  • Coordinate services with agency and community providers.
  • Participate in group facilitation and in curriculum development.
  • Facilitate and or participate in client review meetings.
  • Administrative and Professional responsibilities.
  • Residential Household and Safety Responsibilities.

Required Skills and Experience (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities).

  • Must pass required Applicant Background Check.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Meets the standards for Mental Health Practitioner per DHS guidelines as listed below:

*Candidates are qualified as a Mental Health Practitioner by meeting one of the following qualifications:

A – Has completed at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields and:

  • Has at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness; or
  • Is fluent in the non-English language of the ethnic group to which at least 50 percent of the practitioner’s clients belong, completes 40 hours of training in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, and receives clinical supervision from a mental health professional at least once a week until the requirement of 2,000 hours of supervised experience is met;
  • Has completed a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields.

B – has a least

  • a bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields and at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness. (In lieu of 2,000 hours, a BA-level graduate MHPR may work under the clinical supervision of a mental health professional at the rate of 1 hr. individual clinical supervision/week. (This supervision must be documented by the MHP.)
  • 6000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness.
  • a master’s or other graduate degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields.

Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred or helpful)

  • Experience and training in behavioral learning techniques, rehabilitation theory and practice
  • Experience with facilitation of educational groups
