Additional Information About the Role The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Unit at Alton Memorial Hospital is searching for a PRN- Day Clinical Nurse position to provide outstanding patient care, grow and develop with in the PACU. Position Requirements: * PRN Shift * 2 shifts every 6 weeks * Additional shifts welcomed * 10hr (Day Shift) * Start Schedule: * 7:00am - 5:30pm * 7:30am - 6:00 pm * Call Duties (Weekends/Holidays) * Weekend Saturday 7:00am until Monday 7:00am * One call weekend shift (7 - 8 weekends rotation schedule) * One Holiday per year (7am-7am) * 45-minute response time * PACU exp. Needed * 2+ yrs of RN exp. * BLS required. * Orientation and Training- 6 -8 weeks * Must be able to attend full week of BJC New Employment Orientation * Must be able to attend and complete department orientation appx. 6-shifts (depending on skills) * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. * Ability to be flexible in role and work with two different units * Detailed oriented. Preferred Experience: * ACLS & PALS within 90 days of hire (RQI system) * Critical Care Experience Preferred * Preferred Experience in the PACU, Surgery Center, ICU, ER or CCathlab and related experience * 3+ yrs. of RN exp. in critical care areas Overview Since 1937, Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities in a five-county area. Starting as a land gift to the community from the Smith family, Alton Memorial today is a full-service acute care hospital. Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services and more. The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) functions as the immediate post operative recovery area (phase I) for patients emerging from surgery. Once criteria is met, patients are discharged to either ASD or one of the floors as an inpatient. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with other members of the interprofessional team and patient, family or caregiver in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including their values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
