Job Title:                              Medical Assistant and Front Desk Receptionist       

Work Locations:                 Independence Foot & Ankle currently operates in these 4 locations:  Blue Bell, Feasterville, Lansdale and                                            Sellersville.  This position will primarily work in Lansdale, Feasterville and Blue Bell however, availability                                               to work at other locations will be required as needed.                                         

Classification:                      Full-Time, Non-Exempt, 40 hours per week

General Hours:                    Monday thru Friday (7:45 AM – 5:00 PM)  however, this position is involved with direct patient care or                                                      Front Desk/Reception Duties, which necessitates staying until the last patient is seen.  

Front Desk/Reception Duties:

▪          Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone.

▪          Optimizes patents’ satisfaction, provider time and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.

▪          Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient’s arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays; comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties; answering patients’ questions; maintaining the reception area. 

▪          Ensures availability of treatment information by compiling and confirming patient records and verifying insurance eligibility.

▪          Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.

▪          Protects patients’ rights by maintaining the confidentiality of personal and financial information.

▪          Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.  Example: salting steps in inclement weather, collecting the mail, cleaning up the waiting room and other administrative tasks as assigned. 

Certified Medical Assistant Duties:

▪          Maintaining patient medical records

▪          Preparing patients for examination, taking vitals for each patient, and recording results in the chart

▪          Assisting the physician during exams and taking patient x-rays.

▪          Taking shoe measurements and changing dressings as directed

▪          Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens

▪          Preparing and administering medications as directed by a physician.

▪          Preparing the treatments rooms before and after patients

▪          Restocking supplies and sanitizing equipment and tools

▪          Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

▪          The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience working within a medical practice, has fantastic customer service skills and is computer savvy.

▪          Experience with ModMed, AthenaHealth or other EHR systems, NaviNet and third-party payers a plus.

▪          Comfortable multi-tasking and providing excellent phone and in-person patient services.

▪          Must be a team player and detail oriented.
