Job Summary :
PIC Group has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Technician for a 587 MW CCGT generating station located in New Mexico. The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Manager, is responsible for the ongoing maintenance requirements of the facility, including execution of the facility's planned maintenance program, performance of unplanned and emergency maintenance activities, and support of normal plant operations as required. The Maintenance Technician provides advice on matters pertaining to O&M activities, plant improvement projects, contract obligations, plant owner requests, and third-party activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
• Perform day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities to maintain the facility equipment in a safe operating condition. Activities include disassembly and reassembly of equipment including the inspection of internal parts for wear, checking tolerances, and replacing parts as required.
• Perform basic welding, machining, and pipefitting services.
• Perform preventive and minor maintenance on all plant equipment as required by the Maintenance Manager and in accordance with plant policy.
• Understand and comply with the plant lockout/tagout system, electrical safety, and other plant safety, regulatory, and operational procedures.
• Maintain plant logs for preventive maintenance and all other maintenance records in a professional manner.
• Maintain the plant maintenance equipment (i.e., lathe, welding machine, shop power tools, etc.) in good working order.
• Assist in the supervision of maintenance activities of on-site maintenance trades during extended outage periods.
• Assist administrative personnel with the material management responsibilities
• Assist in the planning, scheduling, and conducting of preventive, corrective, and overhaul maintenance of all power plant equipment and associated plant equipment.
• Keep tools, machines, and equipment in good working order and the maintenance area clean.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
• Responsible for operating a company vehicle and a valid driver's license is required.
Job Requirements :
• Experience in boiler start-up, operation, and shutdown of plant as it pertains to job duties.
• Experience in steam turbine generator start-up, operation, and shutdown as it pertains to job duties.
• Experience in Balance of Plant systems start-up, operation, and shutdown as it pertains to job duties.
• Thorough knowledge of equipment isolation and tagging procedures.
• Experience responding to plant abnormal situations, alarms, and emergencies.
• Thorough knowledge of the location, purpose, and proper use of the plant safety equipment.
• Experience aligning, switching, isolating, and paralleling electrical equipment and systems under the direction of the Control Room Operator.
• Experience using basic hand tools and various shop/welding apparatus.
• Experience performing in-depth plant mechanical maintenance.
• Excellent communication, leadership, teamwork, and presentation skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements :
• Requirements include the ability to reach, climb, walk, and stoop throughout the workday, as well as the possibility of standing on feet for extended periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing, and routinely lifting up to fifty (50) pounds. • Position requires extended working hours, with weekend and holiday work; as required by schedules, workloads, and Plant conditions. "On-call" status will periodically be required.
• Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high-voltage protective equipment, etc.).
Education / Experience :
• HS Diploma required
• 7+ years of experience in facility maintenance in a Power Plant or power-related industry.
