The maintenance manager plays a critical role in our growing operation. This position requires an initiative-taking, dependable employee to manage our maintenance, grounds, and facility staff. This individual will direct completion of engineering and maintenance projects by performing the following duties personally or through assigned direct or indirect team. This position reports to the director of supply chain and operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead day to day activities of directing, controlling, and coordinating all phases of the Maintenance Department
  • Directs the planning, development and implementation of new methods and procedure changes designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and equipment.
  • Facilitate opportunities for capital equipment purchases to help scale the business. This will include needs assessment, project scoping, ROI analysis, and implementation timelines
  • Collaborates with production and staff personnel in investigating, analyzing, and planning action for correction of production problems that involve engineering considerations.
  • Manages facility maintenance / engineering service staff including contractors; monitor the service response time, delivery requirements and PM compliance on all facilities equipment and vehicles
  • Support plant facilities and equipment maintenance to produce quality products in an efficient and profitable manner
  • Remains current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation
  • Assure equipment reliability to maximize production line productivity
  • Track standard manufacturing and warehouse measures and prioritize plant maintenance opportunities
  • Maintain P&L responsibility over maintenance cost centers, repair and maintenance, maintenance labor, utilities, and capital improvement plans
  • Provides management of team members to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action, and performance management.
  • Maintain work and shop area and stock tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently and that the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate
  • Keep the building in a clean and orderly condition by examining the building on a regular basis for needed repairs, maintenance, and cleanliness'
  • Keep the exterior of the building maintained including snow removal, salting & clearing of walkways to ensure employee safety.
  • Manage general building repairs and upkeep of grounds
  • Responsible for maintaining and enforcing all food safety, employee safety and quality policies and procedures
  • Comply with GMP, personal hygiene, HACCP and other quality and safety programs

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years maintenance management experience
  • BS in a relevant Engineering discipline (mechanical, industrial, electrical, or food processing) from an accredited institution preferred
  • Ability to manage a plant engineering and maintenance budget and how to manage internal/external engineering resources
  • Strong process improvement background with at least 5 years direct process improvement experience
  • Must have previous experience in the design & implementation of preventive maintenance programs and management of capital projects
  • Ability to plan organize and prioritize workload, work independently or in a team setting
  • Excellent communication, leadership, mathematical, computer and analytical skills
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule which may require overtime, weekend hours, call in and/or working various shifts
  • Physical requirements may include lifting to 60 lbs., bending, standing, and climbing
