POSITION SUMMARY

Performs routine and complex Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures at a technical level that will produce high quality images consistent with established policies and procedures at a technical level typically requiring general supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specializes in performing routine and complex MRI procedures.

Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needs of individual patients are met.

Operates and maintains all assigned MRI equipment to ensure it works properly.

Positions patients and utilizes equipment in order to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.

Properly identifies, prepares and/or administers medications that are within the technologists scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.

Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.

Maintains an adequate supply of all consumables to perform quality testing.

Performs all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment.

May assist other areas of radiology as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Successful completion of a two year accredited Radiology program, or completion of a MRI specific program providing necessary skills to obtain advanced AART MRI certification.

BLS certification required. Certification must be issued directly by the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

Associate degree in radiology.

Advanced ARRT Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
