Overview:

Under the direct supvervision of a Registered Nurse, performs delegated tasks as appropriate in the care of patients. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with others in communication and problem resolution, is sensitive to the needs of patients, families and fellow co-workers, provides nursing care for patients in accordance with age specific needs, plan and provide professional nursing care for patients inaccordance with any identified cultural diversity needs (such as religions, lifestyles, beliefs, physical capabilites and cultures), provides nursing care for patients by assuring appropriate and effective pain mangement access report and assist any patients that present with evidence of abuse and/or neglect and supports the mission of Mercy. Co-workers are expected to abide by Mercy Fort Smith's safety and infection control policies to maintain a safe environment for patients and co-workers. Supervises Nurses aides and orderlies. NOTE: competent to provide nursing services to the age of the specific population of assigned areas. See "Age Appropriate Care for Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric Patients"policy. Current CPR Certification is a required element to maintain the job position.

 

Qualifications:

Eduation: Graduation from an approved practical nursing program.

Licensure:

Licensure: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure. Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements

 

Experience;Entry level.

Certification: CPR

Other: To ensure patient safety it is mandatory that all licensed co-workers who provide direct patient care pass a medication and math competency test befoe assuming medication administration responsibilites. This exam will cover knowledge of the actions and side effect of commonly used drugs along with math regarding correct dosages and IV problems. the passing grade on this exam is 90% and it may be repeated one time. Failure to pass the retake may result in termination of employment.

Preferred experience: Rehab experience preferred.
