Licensed Practical Nurse - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
  • The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care for outpatient patients of all ages with diverse medical and nursing diagnoses.
  • The Licensed Practical Nurse shall obtain patient history and patient family history.
  • Perform quality control checks and operator maintenance for a variety of patient care equipment.
  • The LPN shall assist in identifying patient needs and implementing the plan of care.
  • Document care given and patient response in the medical record.
  • Prepare patient for physical examination.
  • Communicate pertinent patient data to the appropriate provider.
  • Possess knowledge of actions and usual dosages of most commonly used emergency drugs and their location.
  • Recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate resuscitative measures.
  • Conduct prescribed nurse initiated, nurse practitioner, and physician orders and document in patient medical record.
  • The Licensed Practical Nurse assists in patient/family education regarding prescribed medications/therapies/diagnostic procedures.
  • Assess patient/family knowledge level, implement plan of instructions and record patient/family demonstrated level of understanding.
  • Assure content and correctness of a prepared report and sign document to validate its content.
  • Participate in monitoring quality of care according to processional standards and established procedures.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries regarding ward services and/or follow-up ancillary reports.
  • Assist with ward related administrative tasks.
  • Administer oxygen, intravenous fluids and prescribed medications in accordance with the Client policy.
  • The Licensed Practical Nurse demonstrates sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and other individual differences in the workforce and in the community.
Licensed Practical Nurse - REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Completed a program in practical nursing of at least 9 months' duration combined with 1 year of nursing assistant experience; or successful completion of a 2-year degree in practical nursing. and have passed the NCLEX-PN exam.
  • Licensure: Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
  • Certification: Valid American Heart Association certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Experience: Two years of nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical nursing or patient care facility.
