If you are interested in the opportunity, please apply today!<br> <br> <strong>Position: Legal Assistant</strong> <br> <br> <strong>Days/Hours: Onsite, Monday-Friday 8:30AM-5:15PM</strong> <br> <br> <strong>Duration: Contract to Hire</strong> <br> <br> <strong>Compensation: Up to $33/hourly</strong> <br> <br>Responsibilities:<br> <ul> <li>Provides administrative support of general office duties such as printing, scanning, copying.</li> <li>Arranges couriers, court reporters, expert witnesses, and other special functions.</li> <li>Assists with proper case screening and origination process to include initial conflict check in collaboration with the Records Department, creates and maintains reliable and accurate filing system for electronic documents.</li> <li>Attends and takes notes at meetings.</li> <li>Attends to incoming phone calls on behalf of assigned attorneys.</li> <li>Closes concluded matters per attorney direction.</li> <li>Drafts and proofreads correspondence, discovery, minutes, pleadings, contracts and varied other documents.</li> <li>E-files both via NJ E-Courts as well as New York State Courts Electronic Filing (NYSCEF), and PACER.</li> <li>Inputs attorney time into time keeping software as requested.</li> <li>Maintains attorney calendars by planning and scheduling meetings, appointments, and both onsite and remote conferences.</li> <li>Prepares check requests and submits purchase orders as needed.</li> <li>Prepares expense reports.</li> <li>Redacts, bate stamps, and organizes documents for production.</li> <li>Updates contact information for attorneys.</li> <li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul> <li>Associate degree or equivalent experience</li> <li>Minimum 1-2 years law firm experience.</li> <li>Ability to function well in a high-paced environment.</li> <li>Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information and to exercise discretion and good judgement.</li> <li>Effective time management skills and excellent organizational skills.</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li> <li>Proficient understanding of legal terminology and principles, research methods, court processes.</li> <li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Strong attention to detail particularly in proofreading.</li> <li>Strong technology skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.</li></ul> <br>All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
