Lead Piping & Mechanical Designer

<b>JOB DESCRIPTION</b> <br> <br> Wood is currently recruiting for a <strong>Piping & Mechanical Design Lead</strong> with experience in the chemical manufacturing industry. You will be responsible for leading a group performing design work supporting small facility based projects in an active chemical manufacturing plant as part of the Bishop Texas capital project's group.<br> <br>&bull; Permanent Full Time Position with opportunities for Overtime<br>&bull; Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship is required.<br>&bull; No Paid Relocation for this position<br> <br> <b>RESPONSIBILITIES</b> <br> <br> <ul> <li>Meet or exceed the company's safety standards</li> <li>Leadership <ul> <li>Work Load <ul> <li>Understand the project work load for the group</li> <li>Estimate Designer hours required for incoming projects</li> <li>Assign design resources to support project managers</li> <li>Evaluate work performed by members of the Piping & Mechanical Design group</li> </ul></li> <li>Education & Training <ul> <li>Assist with on-boarding of new Piping & Mechanical designers </li> <li>Train Piping & Mechanical Group on new & existing Processes & Procedures</li> <li>Provide guidance around best Piping & Mechanical Design approaches and work quality</li> </ul></li> </ul></li> <li>Comply with all company procedures, engineering practices and other standards <ul> <li>Fast paced work environment</li> <li>Work closely and interact with Project team members to achieve project success <ul> <li>Plant Engineering Groups</li> <li>Internal and External Design Contractors</li> <li>Construction Contractors</li> <li>Maintenance Resources</li> </ul></li> </ul></li> <li>Read and fully understand all documents which describe the scope of work to be done <ul> <li>Process Design Letters</li> <li>P&IDs</li> <li>Vendor Drawings</li> </ul></li> <li>Provide Piping & Mechanical designs for capital and maintenance projects <ul> <li>Field as-built updates as required </li> <li>Apply company and industry standards to generate Piping & Mechanical construction drawings. <ul> <li>Understand elevation and coordinate systems</li> <li>Use and reference to standards from various sources</li> <li>Plot Plans and Elevations</li> </ul></li> <li>Create written field letters to describe required work</li> <li>Perform material take-offs and create BOMs</li> <li>Assist with construction estimating</li> </ul></li> </ul> <br> <br> <b>QUALIFICATIONS</b> <br> <br> <ul> <li>10+ years industrial experience working in the design field <ul> <li>Chemical Manufacturing or Related Industry Experience is required</li> </ul></li> <li>Experience with design of Piping & Mechanical systems <ul> <li>Piping Isometrics</li> <li>Plan and Location Drawings</li> <li>Pipe Rack design </li> <li>Piping accommodations for Pressure, Temperature, Flow, Density, and Other Instrumentation, </li> <li>3-D design techniques Including Scanning and modeling </li> </ul></li> <li>Field Design Experience <ul> <li>Able to wear required PPE</li> <li>Operate Vehicles safely to job-site </li> <li>Climb Ladders and Stairs</li> <li>Field measurement</li> </ul></li> <li>Work Environment <ul> <li>Proficiency in MicroStation </li> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft, Word, Excel and Outlook</li> </ul></li> </ul><img src="https://counter.adcourier.com/YmJnZW5lcmljLjk5Mzc0LjEyNTI0QHdvb2RwbGNvbXAuYXBsaXRyYWsuY29t.gif">
