Role Overview

The Junior Engineer will work under the direct supervision of the Plant Engineer and Engineering Manager in a wide variety of fields ranging from construction to infrastructure and manufacturing. Junior engineers provide support to their supervisors throughout the design and development phase, make calculations and prepare/review plans for projects, and oversee and provide reports on progress and issues that arise during the project lifecycle.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Develop plans and make calculations for a variety of elements within an engineering project
  • Ensures full compliance with Company policies, procedures, GMP’s, Ethical Business Practice, and SOP’s at all times
  • Under the direct supervision of a senior engineer, draws blueprints and structural diagrams to submit to supervisor for correction and approval
  • Reviews blueprints and plans from external agencies and provides feedback to Engineering management
  • Provides direct day-to-day support and oversight of project elements and engineering activities
  • Visits project sites/areas to answer contractor questions on behalf of the supervising engineer and serves as liaisons between engineering and construction personnel
  • Develops project schedules and deliverable timelines under the supervision of engineering manager or plant engineer
  • Prepares project progress reports and presents them to engineers and other personnel.
  • Evaluates equipment breakdown for corrective actions while maintaining department documentation
  • Assists with equipment evaluation to improve performance, modify to enhance production, or suggest new equipment for process improvement and efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education & Qualification:

  • BS degree in Engineering
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in building engineering/maintenance work. Specific experience in pharmaceutical/nutraceutical environment is a plus.

  • N/A

Skills & Ability

  • Able to read, write and speak English sufficiently
  • Able to successfully perform mathematical and physics calculations under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Effective skills in project planning and drafting are essential
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills to devise technical and creative solutions for any issues that may arise during operation
  • Solid judgment with ability to make good decisions
  • Ability to interact effectively with different departments and with all levels of management
  • Must know MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (SysPro, SAP)

Physical Requirements (lifting, etc.):

  • Ability to navigate office, lab, and/or plant floor working environments.
  • Standard office environment without unpleasant or hazardous conditions. Physical demands involved in office work such as the ability to talk, hear, use hands to handle and feel; work on a computer up to 7 hours a day; close vision required for computer usage.
  • Must have the ability to wear applicable personal protective equipment utilized at this site, including safety glasses/goggles, hairnets, lab coats and safety shoes.
