Summary/Objective
Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, this position prepares compounded sterile products for patients at the infusion clinics. Duties may include, but are not limited to, identifying and printing daily orders, preparing and mixing IV medications, maintaining a clean working environment, and inventory management. The Infusion Pharmacy Technician must support the mission of providing Sacred Work to all who enter the doors of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas.

  • Communicates with the clinic staff to appropriately time medication preparation and delivery.
  • Accurately prepares admixtures utilizing aseptic techniques compliant with USP 797 and USP 800.
  • Assist in managing inventory by receiving and logging inventory, conducting cycle counts, stocking shelves, and checking expiration dates.
  • Consistently documents compounding activities and records environmental logs.
  • Maintains sterile environment in the cleanrooms and cleanliness of compounding equipment.
  • Utilizes knowledge regarding the dispensing of medications/pharmaceuticals in performance of identified responsibilities.Maintains current knowledge of hospital and departmental operational policies and procedures which impact on position responsibilities.

Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
1 - 3 years experience in hospital pharmacy operations required.
Required License/Certifications
Pharmacy Technician Registration in the State of Texas
Must be CPhT certified with Pharmacy Tech Certification Board.
IV Certification (ie: Sterile Product Preparation Certificate, Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique)
