Description:

The Antimicrobial Stewardship Clinical Program Specialist (ASCPS) recognizes specialized training and experience in the area of antimicrobial stewardship and infectious diseases. The ASCP serves to provide drug expertise and coordinate antimicrobial stewardship program efforts, including leveraging their specialized skills for regulatory preparedness, workflow enhancement, and process optimization while collaborating with various other professions. The ASCPS is expected to demonstrate proficiency in an array of areas that includes medication order processing, clinical infectious diseases, consultative service, inventory management, education, communication, informatics, and policy management. The ASCPS is expected to take responsibility for establishing and expanding clinical services of the antimicrobial stewardship program, which seeks to ensure the safe and rational use of antimicrobial agents. It is required to lead and manage medication protocols development, order set development, medication utilization reviews, and performance improvement projects to optimize antimicrobial drug therapy. The ASCPS will serve as a champion for staff development focused on understanding and responding to the threat of antimicrobial drug resistance through reasonable clinical decision making. Estimated salary range for this position is $117150.22 - $152295.29 / year depending on experience.
Qualifications:

Degrees: Doctorate Licenses & Certifications: Registered Pharmacist Additional Qualifications: Doctorate Pharmacy required. Board Certification of Pharmacy Specialty (BPS) in infectious diseases is required. Completion of either (1) 2 years of pharmacy residency or fellowship to specialize in infectious diseases, or (2) 5 years or more direct experience in the field of infectious diseases pharmacy is required. ACLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
