HVAC Supervisor

Reports To: Executive Director for Facility Services
Terms of Employment: Permanent, 12 Month Position
Nature of Work
This position within the Facilities Services department, supervises the resources and staff who provide on-site Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) repair and maintenance services for assigned systems and/or buildings. The HVAC Supervisor plans, directs and oversees all work activities, lead workers, and/or maintenance technicians, which follow a daily and seasonal plan for maintenance services.
Qualifications and Licensure
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid NC Driver's License
  • HVAC Certification from an accredited program of study
  • Five years of experience in HVAC maintenance work
  • Three years of experience as an HVAC supervisor or lead worker
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes, maintains, and manages the operational and personnel activities of the HVAC in the school district.
  • Monitors preventative maintenance processes and programs and facility inspection processes.
  • Supervises assigned HVAC technicians.
  • Recommends and administers policies, procedures, and processes in support of HVAC operations.
  • Implements and monitors compliance with approved policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Identifies training needs of staff and facilitates delivery of the training.
  • Coordinates and conducts site inspections; recommend action for improvement as appropriate.
  • Participates in the formulation and development of policies, procedures , and programs as requested.
  • Writes and receives work orders; plans, supervises, monitors work of HVAC technicians and external vendors performing HVAC related work in the school district.
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by Wilson County Schools.
  • Follows work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.
  • Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with district standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Facility Services.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Special Requirements (if applicable)
The employee must be proficient in all areas of commercial system HVAC installation and maintenance and must possess leadership and organizational skills. The employee must have the ability to assist and prepare a variety of reports. Vital to this job is that the employee must possess knowledge of any applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations codes and/or statutes.
