Overview
This maintenance position is responsible for Inspecting, troubleshooting, installing, repairing, replacing, maintaining, modifying, and alteration of special purpose air conditioning and refrigeration units and systems and pipes and fittings to maintain the heating, water, and drainage systems throughout the hospital. This includes but is not limited to broken pipes, heating hot water system, domestic water system, chilled water system and low-pressure steam and condensate system. Diagnoses and corrects malfunctions in electronic pneumatic automatic control system circuits. Performs corrective actions on all types of pneumatic actuated valves, thermostats, and associated controls in control air applications. Position also tests piping lines to ensure they can maintain the proper amount of pressure. Repairs boilers and steam systems by repairing and replacing pumps, heat exchanges, coils, valves, and associated equipment. Ability to solder, sweat braze and read blueprints. Subject to be scheduled on-call rotations on weekends and holidays as well as responding to emergencies and disasters in person, if and when requested. Coordinates and assists with outside 3rd party contractors and sub-contractors as required to accomplish maintenance oversees to ensure compliance, may be expected to procure parts and services. The HVAC/R Mechanic will also be expected to assist co-workers as required. Expected to work harmoniously with other departments, being proactive, exhibiting timely follow up, and participating on work teams/committees when opportunities present themselves.
What you will do

  • Installs, replaces, repairs, and/or overhauls motors, belts, filters, pumps, valves, wiring, and heating and cooling coils on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and commercial boilers. Monitors and replenishes maintenance inventory based. Coordinates with Lead HVAC/R Mechanic for outside contractors and sub-contractors as required to accomplish maintenance, which may include procuring parts and services. Performs preventive maintenance inspections on HVAC/R equipment and systems. Diagnoses and corrects malfunctions in electronic pneumatic automatic control system circuits by replacing and/or repairing pneumatic actuated valves, thermostats, and associated controls in control air applications. Services products and equipment related to HVAC/R commercial systems and ensuring customer satisfaction. Follows blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schematics or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
  • Performs/Assists co-workers outside of related skill when required during manning short falls or in an Emergency situation to include but not limited to: General Facility Maintenance, Electrical, and/or Plumbing work. Snow Removal. Assist other departments/units in times of Disaster.
  • Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs ensuring the beautification and upkeep of the Facility. Perform preventative maintenance inspections/tasks per defined interval/schedule in a timely manner and document maintenance concerns/resolutions; providing action plans and status reports as needed. Recognizes and corrects potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions and communicates this to a Maintenance Supervisor. Has a general knowledge of DNV, NFPA, AADMS, ADA, OSHA, local, state and federal codes, requirements or regulations and is in accordance with Riverside policies and procedures. Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, mask, hearing protection, and gloves as needed.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of work-related tools and equipment such as power saws, drills, air compressors, generators, and various hand tools required for Plumbing work. Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials, and work area.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED, (Waived if hired prior to 2021) (Required)
  • Program Graduate, Graduate of a trade or vocational school with courses in air conditioning/refrigeration and blueprint reading (Preferred)
  • Program Graduate, One (1) years completion of an approved apprenticeship program training. (Preferred)
Experience
  • 2 years Experience in commercial or resident HVAC (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Chlorofluorocarbons Certification (CFC) - Professional Service Association within 1 Year(Required)
  • Journeyman certification in HVAC/R (Waived if hired prior to 2021) within 3 Years (Required)
  • Drives personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time to perform essential functions of the job
  • Valid Drivers License Required
