General Description The Water and Wastewater Services (WWS) Operations Division is seeking four (4) qualified self-motivated, detailed-oriented, and commercially experienced Custodians to perform custodial work and assist in performing emergency activities.

The candidates will primarily be responsible for maintaining WWS Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants building and grounds clean, neat, and in a safe manner that meets organizational standards. Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

-Sweeps, mops, scrubs and buffs floors; cleans walls, ceilings, and woodwork; washes windows.

-Cleans rest rooms and replenishes supplies.

-Dusts; empties waste baskets.

-Moves and sets up furniture; prepares rooms for scheduled programs and activities.

-Collects litter and sweeps walks around the buildings.

-Cleans offices, break rooms, halls, stairways, and similar areas in order to provide a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for the public and other staff.

-Performs a variety of light maintenance activities in order to maintain a safe, clean work environment, facilitate ongoing operations, and maintain day-to-day services.

-Maintains inventory of a variety of cleaning products and supplies.

-Performs related work as assigned. The position requires the use of cell phone, tablet, and work order tracking software. Candidate must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and perform cleaning from an aerial lift.

Performs a variety of custodial and related maintenance duties in an assigned area or building. Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires three (3) months experience in commercial cleaning, custodial work, related maintenance work or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses

Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License based on area of assignment.

Preferences Associates Degree or Vocational Degree, or higher in Mechanics, Grounds Maintenance or closely related field. CMI Certified Custodial Technician Certificate or Equivalent, At least two (2) years documented general custodial work experience. At least two (2) years demonstrated knowledge and experience of commercial cleaning practices. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Sweeps, mops, scrubs and buffs floors; cleans walls, ceilings, and woodwork; washes windows.

Cleans rest rooms and replenishes supplies.

Dusts; empties waste baskets; changes light bulbs.

Moves and sets up furniture; prepares rooms for scheduled programs and activities.

Operates and cleans manual elevators.

Cuts grass on adjoining lawns; collects litter and sweeps walks around public buildings.

Cleans offices, break rooms, halls, stairways, and similar areas in order to provide a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for the public and other staff.

Performs a variety of light maintenance activities in order to maintain a safe, clean work environment, facilitate ongoing operations, and maintain day-to-day services.

Maintains inventory of a variety of cleaning products and supplies.

May perform a variety of security related duties in accordance with established security procedures.

Performs related work as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Demands Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy. Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment) Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
