HIM Supervisor (FT - Days)

Reviews patient medical records to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) code sets.Ensures accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, such as those set by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).Communicates with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure accurate code assignment.Ensures complete, accurate, timely, and consistent coding while adhering to published coding guidelines and organization policy.Review and manage data outcomes to identify root causes of coding quality issues for overall coding quality improvement.Work in partnership across various teams to communicate issues such as workflow processes, forecasting, scheduling, quality activities, etc.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes affecting coding requirements and ensures staff are appropriately educated.Plans work detail and scheduling for coverage of the area.Educates staff through in-service or educational training; oversees the training of new staff.Address performance issues appropriately.Identifies problems, offers constructive suggestions, and implements solutions for improvement within the department.
