DPL is hiring a Program Coordinator to help manage Plaza programs as part of DPL's Cultural Inclusivity Services (CI).

In this position, your primary responsibilities will be as follows:

Maintain and develop the Plaza volunteer program - recruit, interview, onboard, train and support all program volunteers. Maintain and develop Plaza immigration legal help programs and navigation activities in collaboration with partner organizations and volunteer attorneys. Respond to inquiries about legal services. Monitor customer inquiries, delegate staff responses, and ensure efficient response times. Assist in auditing and evaluating program progress. Maintain, recommend and develop or modify program procedures, guidelines, standards and policies to achieve program goals. Meet with community groups, service providers and other agencies and customers to solicit input and develop programs. About Plaza and Cultural Inclusivity

The Cultural Inclusivity Services team collaborates with Denver's multicultural community to create equitable opportunities for learning, discovery, and connection. Plaza, one of CI's main programs, has been an important element of Denver Public Library programming for fifteen years, and takes place at ten library branches and online. Plaza creates inclusive spaces for people from all over the world to connect with resources and meet new people by offering low-barrier spaces for language practice, citizenship exam preparation, legal help, technical assistance, resource navigation, and more. Our ideal candidate has:

Familiarity with Denver communities, including neighborhood demographics, trends, needs of immigrant communities, local community organizations, and libraries. Familiarity with Google Suite software and the ability to embrace the challenge of learning new software and technology. Skill in planning, organizing, evaluating, and prioritizing. Skill in reviewing work for accuracy and completeness. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Skill in observing and responding to changing community trends. Ability to apply creative solutions to problems as part of a collaborative team effort. Experience working with a multicultural, multilingual team representing a variety of backgrounds, skills, and experiences. Ability to facilitate connections for new immigrants and refugees in a respectful manner. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made. Experience multitasking in busy environments while demonstrating a positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness in working with customers, coworkers, volunteers and community. Experience planning and facilitating virtual meetings or programming. A reliable form of transportation. Experience with Plaza programs at Denver Public Library preferred. Spanish fluency is preferred.

This position will start at at least 50% remote, but can change at any point as an employee of the City & County of Denver. It will require one evening per week and occasional weekends.

Education Requirement

Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.

Experience Requirement

Five (5) years of technical or administrative experience with program coordination and evaluation, and/or implementing work processes.

Education & Experience Equivalency

One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
