FLSA Status: Hourly
7.0 HOURS/DAY
Work Days: 184 a school year (anticipated work hours from 6:30am-1:45pm - 7.0 hour days)
Rate of pay: $19.60/hour plus $0.10/hour per part-time employee on the kitchen staff.
Board paid IMRF.

JOB SUMMARY
Manage food services staff while guiding them through the sanitary preparation of nutritious food in an efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the school building's food service program.
  • Responsible for training and management of cooks.
  • Prepare food according to menus and nutritional requirements.
  • Standardize and control portion size.
  • Inform the patrons and community of menus and services offered by the cafeteria and of health and educational benefits gained by children through the participation in the school food service program.
  • Responsible for the inventory of food, supplies, and equipment.
  • Notify the Food Service Director when food, supplies and equipment are needed.
  • Receive food, supplies and equipment.
  • Reconcile and post receipts daily.
  • Inspect school lunch facilities to ensure that adequate sanitation practices are being observed.
  • Maintain records as requested by the Food Service Director.
  • Make suggestions for improvement to the supervisor.
  • Work cooperatively with the principal and assistant principal.
  • Follow Office Of Civil Rights Food Service Guidelines
  • Other such duties as assigned by the supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in food preparation and service is preferred.
  • Experience in food preparation and service.
  • Illinois Department of Public Health Food Service Sanitation Certificate.
  • Ability to supervise cooks.
  • Ability to work with children.
  • Ability to work in the kitchen and dish room.
  • Proficiency with using computers and other technology.
  • Proficiency with using Google Suite of Workplace Applications.
