Title: Infrastructure Engineer 3 (IT)
Location: Vancouver, WA
Duration: 12-month Contract (with possible extensions up to 5 years)
Pay Range: $69.68 - $72.90 per hour
The role of the Infrastructure Engineer is to provide network and storage operations, maintenance and support of storage and data protection systems. This position is responsible for engineering, planning, implementing, upgrading or monitoring security measures for the protection of computer networks & information. Position is responsible for conducting Network Infrastructure engineering activities which include designing and developing organizational information systems or upgrading legacy systems. Employs best practices when implementing security controls within an information system including software engineering methodologies, system/security engineering principles, secure design, secure architecture, and secure coding techniques. Coordinates security-related activities with information security architects, senior information security officers, information system owners, common control providers, and information system security officers.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Security Audits to identify potential problems related to physical security, staff safety, or asset protection.
  • Design Cyber Security policies, programs, or practices to ensure adequate security relating to issues such as protection of assets and access card use.
  • Recommend improvements in security systems or procedures.
  • Engineer, install, and maintain security systems, programmable logic controls, or other security-related electronic systems.
  • Identify system data, hardware, or software components required to meet user needs.
  • Provide guidelines for implementing secure systems to customers or installation teams.
  • Monitor system operation to detect potential problems.
  • Design and implement storage network environments based on system requirements.
  • Perform day-to-day management of security network environments.
  • Implement upgrades and/or modifications to storage network configurations.
  • Administer and monitor all components of networks and storage solutions.
  • Experience evaluating various different technical, operational and management solutions to network problems, using written language and various media to present alternatives and recommendations.
  • Provide support to integration projects, operations and maintenance, as well as 24x7 production support on a rotational basis.
  • Provide staff and users with assistance solving computer related problems, such as malfunctions and program problems.

Position Requirements:
Education & Corresponding Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electronics, computer engineering, Telecommunication Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • 10 years of experience and knowledge in computer network and systems concepts, principals, and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system is required.
  • Experience should be related to IT Infrastructure Engineering and include work in hands-on technical implementation of networks and systems.
Required Technical Skills & Experience
  • 5 years of experience on project teams developing computer and / or network systems.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience working in an Enterprise Data Center with high availability requirements.
  • Familiarity and experience with the following systems:
    • Server virtualization best practices and requirements
    • SAN/NAS storage infrastructure implementation
    • Managing and deploying (Access, Authentication, & Authorization) services for infrastructure equipment
    • Cabling and fiber management systems
    • Knowledge of vulnerability research methodologies and sources
    • Best practice data center physical infrastructure requirements
    • Software defined networking (SDN) and network virtualization
    • NERC CIP and Reliability standards
  • Experience in the following:
    • Virtual Private Networks and router encryption
  • Fiber optic communication system design
