Foundry workers typically work 40 hours per week, but they may work overtime during busy periods.

Job Duties:

A small foundry and machine shop in the south is looking for a foundry manager. The company has an experienced staff that knows and understands its unique product lines. The foundry currently pours 6000 pounds per day but needs to increase to 12,000 pounds per day to meet demand and delivery requirements. Pour weights range from 25 pounds to 750 pounds. It has 60 employees.

Currently, the foundry has two Rotolifts and one International squeezer with the implementation of a second being considered. It has 1-2 main floors dedicated to castings of between 200-750 pounds gross weight. The Nobake loop has run up to 50 molds per day with a furan based system.

It also has a conventional and CNC machine shop.

The successful candidate must be skilled in green sand, nobake and metallurgical control and problem solving. They must be innovative in increasing production, training and motivational techniques. It is imperative they be capable of developing, designing and implementing new metrics and reports for production and process control. Computer skills, especially with Excel, are necessary.

They must have excellent communication skills both with their employees and with the corporate management. In addition, they should understand all aspects of environmental testing, permitting, and reporting as well as OSHA requirements.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

Trains and manages hourly production employees on the assigned shift and process area.

Oversees the daily workflow and assignments of direct reports.

Provides engagement and performance evaluation for direct reports.

Job Requirements:

A minimum of 15 years of experience in a foundry atmosphere with at least five years in management.
