OIC CAREER OPPORTUNITY

The Office of the Insurance Commissioner's (OIC) Fiscal Unit is seeking a motivated and qualified individual to fill a Fiscal Technician 3 position . This position is assigned to the Operations Division, located in our Tumwater office.

  • Have 15 quarter or 10 semester hours of college-level accounting, auditing, finance, or budgeting AND have two years of full-time experience performing clerical or fiscal supporting duties

This is a Washington General Service position. The monthly salary range for this position is $3,167 - $4,194.

DUTIES
The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Interpretation of rules and regulations adopted by Office of Financial Management (OFM) relating to travel
  • Review of required documents, coding and invoices for completeness and accuracy
  • Processing revenue refunds, travel reimbursements, and travel advance payments.
  • Data entry of fiscal documents into the Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS)
  • Maintain billing requests
  • Primary back-up for all functions of the receipts desk and Accounts Payable
  • Process incoming mail for Operations and mail out warrants
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • 15 quarter or 10 semester hours of college-level accounting, auditing, finance, or budgeting.
  • Two years of full-time experience (40 hours per week or equivalent) performing clerical or fiscal supporting duties. An associate degree or higher will substitute year for year for experience.
    • Clerical duties may include: providing customer service in an office or call center environment, communicating with external and internal customers through email, phone and in-person interactions, responding to questions, providing resolution to issues, filing, keeping records, data entry, processing mail, inventorying supplies, in an office setting.
  • Basic Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook skills: able to create, save, preview and print a basic document, and worksheet; and compose, send and respond to email messages.
If a degree or other credentials are listed, proof will be required prior to employment. University degrees must be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or foreign equivalent. If a degree was awarded outside the United States, candidates must provide a credential evaluation report.

  • Associate or bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in AFRS.
  • Experience working in TEMS.
