<strong>Position Objective:</strong> <br><br>The Engineering Manager, reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, is responsible for supervising Senior Project Engineers, Project Engineers, Designers, and Drafters. The role involves coordinating engineering activities for all departmental projects in collaboration with Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and suppliers.<br><br><strong>Organizational Supervision, Reporting, and Interface:</strong> <br><br>The Engineering Manager oversees all associates within the Engineering Department and reports directly to the Vice President of Engineering. This position involves regular interaction with executive and management team members, as well as other company associates.<br><br><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong><br><ul><li>Assign and direct all approved engineering projects.</li><li>Oversee product design to ensure evaluation for manufacturing feasibility, legal and cost considerations, design integrity, and marketing potential.</li><li>Approve all engineering cost estimates before submission to the VP of Engineering.</li><li>Coordinate Engineering Change Notices and Releases with affected departments.</li><li>Enforce priorities set by upper management to ensure adherence to new product schedules.</li><li>Implement training sessions for engineering personnel as needed.</li><li>Stay current with the latest technology in materials, design, and manufacturing processes.</li><li>Investigate reported product problems to confirm authenticity and recommend appropriate corrective actions.</li><li>Provide technical assistance to Engineers in the development of new products.</li><li>Conduct periodic design review meetings with relevant departments.</li><li>Ensure strict adherence to corporate design quality system requirements and procedures.</li></ul><br><strong>Skills and Abilities Required:</strong><br><ul><li>Thorough knowledge of the design and development of mechanical components and systems.</li><li>Working knowledge of test engineering, manufacturing operations, and engineering processes and procedures.</li><li>High level of analytical ability.</li><li>Proficiency in interactive management, program management, FMEA, FEA, DVP&R, QS9000, TS16949, and PPAP tools.</li><li>Strong financial understanding of product costing.</li><li>Well-developed oral and written communication skills.</li><li>Ability to coordinate multiple group efforts within the company to achieve objectives.</li><li>Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.</li></ul><br><strong>Education and Experience Minimum Requirements:</strong><br><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.</li><li>Experience in product design, development, and manufacturing.</li></ul><br><strong>Work Environment:</strong><br><ul><li>Duties are performed indoors at the corporate offices in Grandview, MO.</li><li>Must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time.</li><li>Occasionally needs to move around the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and use stairs or elevators.</li><li>Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier, printer, and phone.</li><li>Frequently communicates with internal and external parties and must be able to exchange accurate information.</li><li>Must be able to travel via airplane and/or car within the United States as required by business needs.</li></ul>
