For the last 100 years, our engines, generators and UPS products have powered homes, hospitals, lawn mowers, stadiums, and everything in-between<br><br><strong>BASIC FUNCTION:</strong><br><br>As an <strong>Engineer-Supplier Quality, KPS</strong>, you will have the opportunity to impact Kohler's ability to meet customer requirements by driving quality throughout Kohler's supply chain. It will be your responsibility to manage the quality requirements for a diverse supply base and execute improvement activities with these suppliers. In addition to this, you will be a self-starter and proactively use data/metrics, implement internal controls, and improve processes to ensure effective use of supplied product within Kohler's operation to promote end-product quality.<br><br><strong>SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong><br><ul><li>Manage supply base of over 100 suppliers ranging in complexity from switchgear, contactors, and other electronic components.</li><li>Track suppliers Quality metrics to share at QBR's to show trends to both supplier and Kohler purchasing.</li><li>Review and approve supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions for current product changes.</li><li>Complete on-site assessments and supplier qualification activities in conjunction with the Procurement organization.</li><li>Define quality expectations for Kohler's supply base and develop a supplier action plan to achieve improvement targets.</li><li>Lead problem-solving teams both internally and externally to minimize production impact of quality defects.</li><li>Drive process integrity for supplier change management for Kohler product.</li><li>Provide technical data and process limitations for supplied product to assist in vendor selection process.</li><li>Review cost reduction opportunities for supplied product and identify qualification requirements for implementation of these initiatives.</li><li>Complete analysis of quality defects found at customer sites and drive improvement activities to mitigate risk of future failures.</li><li>Utilize quality problem solving techniques to conduct continuous improvement initiatives.</li><li>Manage nonconformance process from the discovery through the resolution of the issue, working with both internal and external resources.</li><li>Verify that suppliers are adhering to Kohler's quality requirements and taking appropriate action to correct issues.</li></ul><br><strong>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:</strong><br><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET accredited program.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills.</li><li>Ability to travel on short notice, up to 25 percent, is required for position.</li></ul><br><strong>SKILL PREFERENCES:</strong><br><ul><li>1+ years of manufacturing or quality experience.</li><li>Electronic component experience is preferred.</li><li>Experience using systematic, problem-solving approaches: 6 sigma, root cause analysis, statistical analysis and 8D problem solving.</li><li>Previous experience working with Automotive Industry Action Group's (AIAG) processes for Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).</li><li>Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures and ISO processes.</li><li>Previous experience in either manufacturing or quality control in composite, electronics or metal fabrication.</li></ul>
