Director of Site Operations

at Penn State! Are you ready to lead critical IT facility operations and drive innovation?

The Penn State IT Infrastructure Division seeks a highly motivated, goal-oriented leader with exceptional operational and interpersonal skills to serve as the Director of Site Operations. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Infrastructure, this individual will be a key member of the Infrastructure Division’s leadership team and will be expected to lead, develop, implement, and maintain operations supporting critical facilities. This position will oversee a team of 22 full-time staff and will lead efforts in developing a clear plan for the future of the critical IT facilities, the University cable plant, and operations monitoring. The successful candidate will manage the budget for the Site Operations organization, including developing funding proposals and identifying approaches to optimize investments through process redesign and innovation.

Location

This position is located in State College, PA. at the University Park campus and has a flexible work arrangement. The position can operate on a hybrid work schedule with a mix of in-person and remote work, requiring the successful candidate to periodically work on campus. Candidates should live in the local area or be willing to periodically travel to campus as needed at their own expense. Questions related to flexible work arrangements should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Education And Experience

This position will be filled as an IT Infrastructure Manager – Senior Manager. This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Candidates must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.

Relevant Skills And Experience

Professional activity at the national level is anticipated, and experience in a large, complex, distributed organization is required.

Proven track record of building a team as a creative thinker, problem solver, teacher, learner, and leader, and can foster a culture of collaboration, diversity, equity, and inclusion to advance the University’s mission.

Knowledge and/or experience in areas such as: data center operations, managing power and cooling needs, telecommunications cabling, operations monitoring, and major incident response.

The ability to pinpoint problem areas, uphold product quality, and drive innovation, while regularly engaging a variety of University stakeholders, including colleagues in research, physical plant and Penn State Health.

Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$109,300.00 – $164,000.00
