Job Description

Uncommon Student Support Specialists are passionate about developing and monitoring accommodations for students with special needs. They advocate for students and believe that specialized instruction and related services increase academic achievement. Student Support Specialists offer academic, emotional, and physical support while maintaining high expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Modify, differentiate, and teach an inclusive curriculum
  • Collaborate with families and Special Education teams to develop 504 and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Create an inclusive and safe environment for students

Qualifications

  • A commitment to the mission of Uncommon Schools
  • A demonstrated commitment to supporting students' social emotional and academic development
  • A self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes
  • Required Experience:
    • 1-2 years experience impacting K-12 students in urban schools
    • Academic expertise in Special Education, the Humanities, Social Sciences, or STEM
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Compensation

The starting compensation for this role is between $56,000 to $77,000. Other benefits include generous paid time off, extensive training and development, choice of comprehensive health insurance plans, and various financial planning and wellness options.
