OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY

The Testing Center, located in the Library Learning Commons, is seeking a responsible student to serve as a test proctor/reader/scribe. Clear handwriting, excellent organizational skills, excellent oral reading skills, and excellent customer service skills. Applicants must also be capable of maintaining the strict confidentiality that a testing environment requires, and enjoy working to support the success of students with disabilities.

SHIFTS
  • Between Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities for the Testing Center Assistant position include, but are not limited to:
  • Test Proctoring (administering tests and monitoring test-taking)
  • Test Reading (serving as a reader for students who have "tests read" as a legal accommodation)
  • Test Scribing (Scribing responses to questions while a student dictates)
  • Returning sealed, completed exams to the Mailroom (in Roth Hall)
  • Monitoring the front desk in order to collect exams from instructors, and to hand back completed exams to instructors.
  • Assisting students by providing written instructions for making Testing appointments or walking them through the process (side-by-side) as necessary.
  • Answering the main "hotline" (845-451-1298 only) and taking a message as needed.
  • Helping students to sign in or out of the computer kiosks as needed in the Library Learning Commons
  • Cleaning, straightening, and organizing the Testing Center and any associated materials and equipment.
These duties are representative of a typical day but are subject to change based upon the needs of the Testing Center and the department.

  • Excellent organizational skills, oral reading skills, and customer service skills.

Successful applicant must be able to perform all related functions of the assignment which may include working nights and weekends and ability to work in person or virtually using Microsoft Teams.
