Join the UOC team! University Orthopedics Center, a leader in orthopedic care throughout Central PA for over 30 years, is currently seeking a full-time DME/Pharmacy Coordinator for our State College location.

*Position Summary:*

The DME/Pharmacy Coordinator is responsible for managing the durable medical equipment (DME) and pharmacy services within the orthopedic practice. This role ensures that patients receive the necessary medical supplies and medications in a timely manner while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. The DME/Pharmacy Coordinator will collaborate with healthcare providers, suppliers, and insurance companies to facilitate efficient and effective patient care.

*Key Responsibilities:*
* *DME Management*
* Coordinate the ordering, receiving, and distribution of DME supplies.
* Maintain inventory levels to ensure availability of necessary equipment.
* Educate patients on the proper use and care of medical equipment.
* Ensure DME compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
* Handle warranty and repair issues for DME.
* *Pharmacy Coordination*
* Assists with the daily operational functions of the UOC Pharmacy
* Assist in keeping Physicians, Physician Assistants, and clinical staff aware of ongoing programs available within the Pharmacy
* Able to travel to satellite site(s) if needed
* Become educated and comfortable with Pharmacy Software
* Promote, market, and educate providers regarding all pharmacy
* Encourage patients and providers to utilize the pharmacy
* Manage the procurement and dispensing of medications prescribed by orthopedic providers.
* Process and dispense prescription drug and or Nutriceuticals to patients
* Responsible for obtaining correct payment for products distributed
* Responsible for inventory management of prescription drugs and Nutriceuticals
* Assists with ordering medication and Nutriceuticals as needed
* Sort and stock incoming pharmaceutical and Nutriceutical products
* Ability to prepare and generate reports using pharmacy based software
* Become knowledgeable with prescription drug and Nutriceutical products that UOC offers
* *Patient Interaction*
* Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding DME and pharmacy needs.
* Address patient inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
* Facilitate patient education sessions on DME and medication management.
* Provide excellent customer service to enhance patient satisfaction.
* *Insurance and Billing*
* Verify patient insurance coverage for DME and medications.
* Process billing and reimbursement for DME and pharmacy services.
* Work with insurance companies to resolve coverage issues and denials.
* Maintain accurate billing records and ensure timely submission of claims.
* *Compliance and Documentation*
* Ensure all DME and pharmacy operations comply with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records related to DME and medications.
* Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
* Stay informed about changes in regulations and update policies and procedures accordingly.
* *Collaboration and Communication*
* Collaborate with orthopedic providers to understand patient needs and treatment plans.
* Communicate effectively with suppliers to manage orders and resolve issues.
* Coordinate with other departments within the practice to streamline processes.
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

*Qualifications:*
* *Education*: High school diploma or equivalent; certification or associate degree in healthcare-related field preferred.
* *Experience*: Minimum of 2 years of experience in DME or pharmacy coordination, preferably in an orthopedic or healthcare setting.
* *Skills*:
* Strong understanding of DME and pharmacy operations.
* Proficiency in medical billing and coding.
* Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficient in using healthcare software and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
* Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.

*Preferred Qualifications:*
* Experience with orthopedic medical equipment and supplies.
* Familiarity with insurance verification and authorization processes.

*Working Conditions:*
* Full-time position based in an office setting within the orthopedic practice.
* Occasional extended hours may be required during peak periods or to meet patient needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $24.00 per hour
