Job Title: Diesel/Heavy Machinery Fleet Mechanic

Hamtramck Recycling is an industrial/commercial recycling center dedicated to sustainable practices and efficient waste management. We are seeking a highly motivated and self-driven mechanic to join our team and ensure the optimal performance of our heavy machinery and equipment fleet.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and Repair: Maintain and repair a fleet of mobile equipment, including Semi tractors, trailers, mobile excavators, wheel loaders, balers, compactors, and hi-lo’s.
- Fleet Maintenance: Oversee and execute maintenance and repairs for a fleet of tractors and trailers, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Diagnostics: Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose mechanical defects and inefficiencies.
- Recommendations: Provide recommendations for repairs that need to be performed by external vendors.
- Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication of equipment and machinery.
- Basic Electrical Work: Conduct basic electrical duties to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Emergency Repairs: Exhibit flexibility in your work schedule to perform emergency repairs as needed.
- Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and safe work environment through general housekeeping tasks.
Job Requirements:
- Heavy Equipment Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of commercial/industrial heavy equipment operations and maintenance.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in welding, cutting, and fabricating equipment and components.
- Engine Maintenance: Experience in working on and maintaining both diesel and gas engines.
- Trailer Maintenance: Familiar with Dry Van and Transfer Trailer maintenance and repairs.
- Fleet Maintenance: Experience in maintaining and repairing a variety of tractors and trailers, including:
- Semi Tractors - Power Units
- DD12-DD15 Diesel Engines
- Aluminum and Steel Transfer Trailers
- 53ft. Dry Van Trailers
- Pneumatic/Hydraulics: Skilled in maintaining and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Equipment Maintenance: Proven experience in maintaining and repairing heavy equipment.
- Specific Equipment Experience: Significant experience with the following equipment:
- Mobile Excavators (e.g., CAT 320D, CAT 320C)
- Balers and Compactors
- Diesel and Electric Hi-lo’s
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Experience: Reasonable experience in repairing and rebuilding a variety of gasoline and/or diesel fuel machinery.
- Preferred Experience: Previous experience in waste processing and handling is preferred but not required.
