EAH is now seeking to strengthen its R&D team at ECS Tuning located in Wadsworth, Ohio with a Design Engineer I. This is an on-site full-time position and offers competitive compensation.
Position Description
Our ideal candidate for the position will be an automotive enthusiast with strong leadership characteristics and excellent verbal and written communication skills. They should have a proven ability to work in a fast paced, high accountability team environment and successfully resolve problems with a positive and upbeat attitude. This individual should have a strong attention to detail and logical problem-solving capabilities with a constant pursuit of raising the bar. A self-motivated team player who can identify tasks without supervision will excel in this role. An applicant for this position should have a thorough understanding of how automotive systems work with an excellent mechanical aptitude prior to joining the ECS Tuning team. This knowledge is imperative when designing new parts or modifying components within a system which will be a core function of this position. The designer needs to be intimately aware of how each component within a system functions to know how changes or upgrades will affect the rest of the system, and ultimately, vehicle safety and performance. Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering and design analysis for new product development using advanced CMM/scan equipment, 3D modeling & simulation software
  • Apply engineering principles (materials science, statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluids mechanics) to improve automotive performance
  • Work with Purchasing team to support vendors through the manufacturing process
  • Perform quality inspections and associated reporting as needed
  • Review quality inspection and product test fitment results
  • Develop and perform on and off vehicle durability and performance tests for product validation
  • Assist technicians with product installation, documentation, troubleshooting, and analysis as needed
  • Catalog growth and maintenance through completion of designs within existing product lines and improvement of existing designs
Requirements
  • Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Basic 3D design and drafting experience (Solidworks or equivalent)
  • An understanding of drafting standards and basic manufacturing processes
  • Basic knowledge of suspension, braking, exhaust, turbo, and engine/drivetrain system design and engineering principles
  • Ability to research, learn, perform engineering tasks and make technical data-based decisions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lead with a strong interest in positively impacting change
  • Enthusiasm with a track record for innovative and creative design solutions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years design engineering experience in a professional capacity in the automotive or related industry.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes to optimize designs (machining, sheet metal forming, plastics, composites)
  • FEA / CFD / simulation experience
  • Reverse engineering experience (Polyworks)
  • Experience with data acquisition systems (dynamometer, flow bench, strain gauges, etc.)
  • European automotive knowledge (Porsche, BMW, Audi, VW, Mercedes)
  • Experience working on and modifying personal project vehicles
