Senior Staff Accountant

The Senior Staff Accountant will analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within an organization and serve as a lead point of contact in the accounting department. Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Under the guidance of the Controller, lead and direct the Accounts Payable Specialist.
• Reconcile sub ledger to general ledger balances.
• Monitor and update customer pricing changes.
• Monitor and approve weekly payroll postings.
• Analyze financial information and reports actuals versus budget to CFO and President.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to ensure proper internal controls.
• Liaise with Controller and CFO to improve financial procedures.
• Responsible for month-end closing process, which includes conducting research and making correction to journal entries for account discrepancies, preparing closing journal entries, posting accrual entries, and preparing financial statements along with intercompany reconciliation.
• Coordinate and conduct union reporting audits.
• Assist in preparation of internal monthly and year-end financial reporting.
• Assist accounting department with gathering documentation for auditors.
• Maintain and file documents in adherence to the record retention policy.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
• Perform Ad Hoc reporting upon request.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience plus 3 years of experience in accounting
Competencies:
• Knowledge of financial management.
• Highly skilled in the use of Excel Spreadsheets.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal.

This position is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.
Work Environment
This job operates in both an office and a field environment. Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
