Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in the Metairie, LA office. This entry-level full-time position requires strict adherence to health and safety procedures, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and strong interpersonal communication skills, multi-tasking skills, efficient time management, and the flexibility required to support different project managers concurrently.

Role accountabilities:
As a Geotechnical Engineer, your responsibilities will include a combination of field and office-related tasks and may include travel for extended periods. Field activities may include the following:

  • Geotechnical field investigation and laboratory testing
  • Soil and groundwater sampling in compliance with State and Federal standards
  • Subcontractor oversight
Office responsibilities may include the following:
  • Geotechnical analyses for levees, and other hydraulic structures, including but not limited to seepage, slope stability and settlement analysis, and preparing technical reports.
  • Data evaluation of instrumentation systems at levees, spillways, outlet works, and slopes.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to fluently communicate to clients and present technical information.
While this position requires both field and office work, the candidate should expect to spend 10-25% of their time in the field. Candidates must have a good driving record, be willing to work outside for extended periods. Candidates must also be able to meet the physical demands associated with performing field work, such working in a standing position for extended periods of time.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate
  • Master's degree
  • Prior internship experience

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $78,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
