More information about this clinic and location details is in this link, Dental Assistant The dental assistant will perform dental duties to focus on providing dental support to providers in the dental clinic. Assist patients and clinic staff in the dental department. Supports a culture that fully embraces internal, external and organizational customer service. The dental assistant restores teeth after preparation has been accomplished. This includes selection, contouring and placement of matrices, placement of bases and liners and packing, carving and polishing routine and complex alloy restorations, which include pin retention and cusp build-ups. Performs other related work, to include: • Place and finish routine and complex composite restorations, which include multiple surfaces and angle replacement • Place and contour temporary restorations • Fabricate and place temporary crowns and bridges • Retract gingivae from teeth with retraction cord in preparation for final crown and bridge impressions. Provide assistance and fully anticipates the dentist's need for various instruments, materials, and service. Typical duties include: • Applies endodontic medicaments to teeth as prescribed by the dentist. • Applies desensitizing and removes sutures, and takes preliminary impressions for study models. Correctly exposes, processes, and mounts intra and extra-oral radiographs. Perform dental laboratory procedures such as pouring and trimming models, fabricating custom trays and bite rims, mounts casts on articular, and pours final impressions. Provide a variety of general support work in support of dentists and the Dental Department, to include: a. Clean, sharpen, package, and sterilize all dental instruments and ensures proper storage b. Perform oral prophylaxis and applies topical fluoride treatments. c. Operate ultrasonic scaler (cavitron) and uses hand instruments to remove visible calculus. d. Train and guide lower-graded dental assistants. e. Apply pit and fissure sealants. f. Relay post-treatment instructions to patients and motivates and instructs them in proper home care and disease prevention techniques. g. Order necessary dental supplies and properly stocks the clinic at all times. h. Responsible for day to day maintenance of clinic areas, to include minor equipment adjustments and cleanliness of clinic areas. i. Take and record patient blood pressure.
