Status: Full Time

Hours: 7 on/ 7off (6pm to 6:00am)

General Description:

The Emergency Department (ED) Clinical Pharmacist oversees the daily activities of the medication use process in the Emergency Department. This pharmacist is responsible for the implementation and provision of clinical pharmacy services to improve patient care.

Responsibilities:

Performs order verification for the designated units.
Works closely with all Pharmacy and ED personnel to assure safe, accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of patient care.
Acts as a liaison between the pharmacy and the medical and nursing staff for issues pertaining to clinical pharmacy services.
Participates in codes and supports the ED during emergencies to assure medication needs of the patient are met.
Participates in the orientation and training of new pharmacy employees as needed.
Serves as a preceptor for College of Pharmacy students and PGY1 Pharmacy Residents at Driscoll Children's Hospital.
Performs a variety of activities (policy/protocol development, order set development, medication use evaluation, medication build testing, etc.) and duties as assigned to meet the routine and urgent needs the department.

Qualifications:

Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor’s degree (BPharm) from an accredited college of pharmacy
Texas Pharmacist license
Texas Preceptor license preferred
A minimum of one to two years of hospital pharmacy practice experience preferred OR
Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program is preferred
Pediatric, Critical Care, or Emergency Room experience strongly preferred
BLS, PALS, ACLS experience preferred
