ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

The position of Data Analyst reports to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning. There are no supervisory duties.

PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:

This position is funded through a U.S. Department of Education Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program (STEM) Title III grant (Award # P031C210103) and Title V MI CASA grant (Award #P). The Data Analyst is responsible for coordinating, managing, and reporting on internal and external data collection and analysis related to grant reporting, institutional research, event participation, and other data of various forms to contribute to the objectives and goals of each grant. Specific activities include assisting with the grant planning and developing processes, preparing reports for grant reporting and internal communication, collaboration with faculty and staff, event participation for planning and review, and data retrieval, analysis, presentation, and communication from a variety of internal and external sources. The Data Analyst will uphold the College's Guiding Principles, and work to actively promote inclusivity, celebrate diversity, and ensure equal opportunities. The position will include work from the MCC Fort Morgan campus, and also have an occasional need to travel. Some remote work may be appropriate based on the business needs and/or work cycle of the position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborates closely with other grant and college staff to contribute to efforts on the collection, compilation, and analysis of data, recommend changes, and promote data-informed choices using Banner, Cognos, Navigate, Recruit, Evaluation Kit, and other institutional data systems. (30%)
  • Coordinates the development and keeps regular maintenance of grant specific data and methods of data collection and corresponding documentation including but not limited to performance measures for each grant objective, cohort data, and event numbers. (30%)
  • Prepare and disseminate appropriate internal communications and conduct trend reporting and analysis as needed to maximize the use of data. (15%)
  • Coordinates with grant staff to analyze and review grant initiatives, performances of events, and other projects. (10%)
  • Assists in data-oriented sections of the grant Annual Performance Report. (5%)
  • Develops and maintains a master calendar and/or schedule for grant/institutional data collection and dissemination processes. Facilitates a process to increase direct access to data by college employees. (5%)
  • Other duties as assigned. (3%)
  • Based on the functions, this position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority. As a Campus Security Authority, the incumbent in this position is required to report allegations of Clery Act crimes that they become aware of to the Vice President of Student Services at Morgan Community College. Various trainings pertaining to these responsibilities may be required. (1%)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in data analysis, statistical interpretation, research, or related field from a regionally accredited institution. A combination of education and professional level experience performing similar duties to those described for this position may substitute.
  • Experience with database management and reporting; ability to examine data to determine outcomes and trends.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Master's degree in a field related to data analysis, statistical interpretation, research, or related field.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience with one or more of the institutional data systems including but not limited to Banner, Cognos, Navigate, Recruit, Evaluation Kit, etc.

RESPONSIBILITY AND DECISION MAKING:

This position performs data extraction, analysis, and institutional support using a variety of programs to track measures and communicate with the grant directors and other needed parties. The day-to-day operations include problem solving, analyzing, and coordinating data that are used in the operation and reporting of the grant. This position will consistently exercise discretion and equity and apply analytical skills to the performance of advanced work/daily duties. This position works with staff and faculty from across the institution. There are no supervisory responsibilities.
