About the Role

The OQ Certified Damage Prevention Technician will report to the Operations Lead. The position will play a key role in safety and quality while driving, parking, and performing audits on marked gas lines. This position requires a high level of physical activity and working in a wide variety of weather conditions.

What You’ll Do

Compliance & Safety
Assure compliance with Code Rule 753 and promote safe excavation practices
Follow strict Utility, State and Federal guidelines relating to damage prevention
Wear assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) and company uniform
Follow safety, quality, and operational procedures
Participate in safety meetings
Gas Main Locating & Site Visits
Hand out educational materials and public awareness items to excavators
Follow sketches and diagrams to identify gas line locations
Utilize line locating equipment to detect gas mains and services for proper auditing
Visit 3rd party excavation sites and construction zones regularly
Collect data using handheld tablet or other collection device
Show courtesy and professionalism when dealing with customers and other employees
Complete Work Orders on assigned dates
Travel to visit sites on occasion

Communication & Collaboration
Provide timely reports and documentation to management regularly
Escalate issues and questions to Supervisor when necessary
Maintain a satisfactory attendance record
Keep assigned vehicle clean
Report equipment and vehicle issues immediately
Communicate with dispatchers
Other duties as needed

About You

Must haves:

Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have a valid driver’s license
Be fully qualified in locating gas mains and services through the NGA OQ program

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Bermex salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to customer contact terms, location, experience, and performance. Other rewards may include Paid Time Off, 401(k) retirement savings plan with company match, ESOP contributions, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and other region-specific benefits as eligible.

Salary Range Transparency: For applicants residing in NY, the salary for this role is $20/hr
