POSITION PURPOSE:

The Minnesota Autism Center is looking to hire a Post-Masters Fellow (Mental Health Practitioner). This position is open to pre-licensed clinicians looking to work on their declared licensure track. Candidates with interest in working with children and young adults with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are encouraged to apply. The primary function of the Clinical Trainee is to assist the Clinical Supervisor in providing professional services to a caseload of children affected by ASD who are receiving therapeutic services. The Clinical Trainee works collaboratively within a team of professionals to design, deliver, evaluate and report on the services being provided to MAC clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Clinical Trainee will have a Masters degree or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Clinical Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work, or a related field.

Self-motivated to enhance clinical expertise provided for clients, families and staff
Must have superior problem solving and decision making skills as well as strong analytical skills
A declared licensure track in Minnesota with active pursuit of licensure attainment (LMFT, LICSW, LP, or LPCC) with appropriate internal and external supervision as appropriate.
Compliance with the respective board rule related to pursuit of licensure
The Clinical Trainee will have extensive knowledge of professional and ethical clinical standards regarding the delivery of professional mental health services in general, and behavior therapy services in particular.
The Clinical Trainee must be effective working within a team structure and have demonstrable effective verbal and written communication skills.
The Clinical Trainee must possess a valid drivers license, automobile insurance, and have consistent and reliable transportation.
The Clinical Trainee must pass all criminal background checks as required by the State of Minnesota to be eligible to work with children and vulnerable adults.
The Clinical Trainee must be proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Knowledge and experience in working with children with ASD and their families is highly desired

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Developing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with children, parents and other family members
Assisting in the development of Individual Treatment Plans
Support the clinical team in supervising the delivery of effective services
Conducting ABA therapy sessions
Attend and present at clinical and interdisciplinary meetings as requested, necessary and appropriate
Develop and document all professional contacts regarding clients on a timely basis Maintain confidentiality of the children and families/caregivers served by MAC according to professional ethical standards, state and federal rules and regulations and MACs internal policy and procedures
Complete face-to-face observations with clients every 90 days or as needed
Assist with the completion of Diagnostic Assessments
Miscellaneous duties as requested by the Clinical Supervisor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employee will work at assigned location which is subject to change as needed Ability to sit, walk and/or stand for extended periods of time
May be called upon to assist in clients personal hygiene and/or personal care needs of clients such as dressing, feeding and toileting
May be called upon to assist with challenging behaviors.
