This role will obtain required authorization and eligibility information for patients referred to behavioral health programs.ResponsibilitiesSecures and communications patients referrals and authorizations to providersSchedules and communicates appointment information to patients and/or familiesFollows up with patients and providers to ensure appointments were keptObtains and documents the consult and progress reports from providers, radiologists, and other medical professionals in patient medical recordsProvides MAT pre-intake assessments to determine appropriate fit for the programDocuments MAT group attendance, random urinary drug screens, and film/pill countsCompletes SDoH assessments, referrals, and linkages and track information/outcomes in patient medical recordsFollows Telepsychiatry for primary care site policy/procedures and coordinate on-site patient care with telepsychiatry providers at other sitesDocuments all actions taken in patient medical records in accordance with current clinic, DHS, and health plan regulations/guidelinesDiscusses all aspects of the referral process as prescribed by providers with patients, including counseling the patient regarding the cost of a referral, as neededCommunicates with patients in person, by telephone, and/or by mailActs as liaison between patient, clinic/providers, specialty care providers, health plans/funding sources, and community resourcesAttends staff and other required meeting and trainingsVerifies insurance eligibilities, submits treatment authorizations, and provides coverage for front office staff, as neededParticipates in quality improvement activitiesDocuments all care coordination, services, and/or patient education in medical recordsInitiates and processes incident reports according to documentation guidelinesPrioritizes activities according to intensity, need, and required follow-upProvides accurate and timely reports to supervisor and site staff, as neededResponds promptly and with caring actions to patients and employeesMaintains professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients, and the publicCooperate in accomplishing department goals and objectivesQualificationsEducation/ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredValid Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program requiredOne year certified medical assistant experience preferred Valid BLS certification required upon hireBilingual(English/Spanish) preferredAdditional Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)Familiarity with medical procedures and terminologyProficiency with electronic health records system experience preferredIntermediate computer and data entry skillsMust use sound judgment to anticipate needs of patients and providersFlexibility with changing priorities and time sensitive deadlinesUse emotional and cultural intelligence to provide appropriate communication and patient careExemplify compassion to patients and team membersAbility to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to work as part of a team as well as independentlyAbility to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical mannerPay range: $23.00 - $32.55 per hour depending on experience.
