*Job Summary: *As the Controller, you'll collaborate closely with the Executive Management Team, serving as the senior figure within the finance and accounting team. Your primary role involves delivering accounting services to both our internal and external stakeholders. You will execute the generation of timely and accurate monthly accurate financial statements, reports, and reconciliations, while also playing a key role in the annual budget and audit process while maintaining internal controls. Additionally, you'll lend your expertise to various other projects as required and as time allows.

*Responsibilities:*

· Prepare monthly accurate financial statements.

· Establish and maintain internal controls, ensuring compliance with company programs, practices, and policies. Develop operating standards for all identified written processes.

· Assist with the preparation of budgets and coordinate the annual budget preparation by all departments.

· Prepare and issue monthly accurate financial reports, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and volume comparison for variances to budget and previous year. Conduct detailed reviews of all balance sheet accounts, ensuring timely reconciliation and resolution of discrepancies.

· Prepare cash projections, monitor variations from projections promptly, and manage cash flow in line with company objectives.

· Provide financial training to staff, particularly in management and budgeting.

· Manage all aspects of the general ledger and financial reporting.

· Assist in and ensure backup/cross-training of essential responsibilities.

· Monitor compliance by staff with all internal agency procedures for safeguarding assets.

· Manage all required tax filings and payments, including sales tax, fuel tax, payroll tax, and income tax.

· Manage compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.

· Engage with external partners and stakeholders, including auditors, consultants, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies.

· Manage the annual audit process from start to finish while ensuring minimal adjusted journal entries.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

*Qualifications:*

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

· Minimum of ten years of accounting experience.

· At least two years of supervisory experience.

· Experience with full ERP software, such as SAP or JD Edwards, is a plus.

· An advanced degree or professional certification (such as an MBA or CPA) is a plus, though not required.

· Understanding of general ledger structure, month-end closing, and reporting to various entities.

· Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, plus proficiency in Windows 365, MS Word, and Outlook.

· Ability to provide backup HR support, including payroll preparation and benefits oversight.

10-19 years of service 3 weeks 120 hours

20 + years of service 4 weeks 160 hours

* This position will work in person from our main San Luis Obispo office location.
