Job Summary :
The primary responsibility is to efficiently and effectively acknowledge, understand and maintain all Regulatory, Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements of the Federal, State, and Local agencies and laws as it pertains to the DOL (OSHA, OWCP), EPA, OMF Code of Conduct (Sustainability) and Food Defense (Bioterrorism Act of 2002).
Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring that the EHSS plan is continuously in compliance.
  • Providing support for line management to meet the facility's EHSS's Plan goals & requirements.
  • Advising Department's Management on applicable EHSS legal and other requirements.
  • Implement and monitoring the compliance with the appropriate procedures and activities of all EHSS programs for the General Industry as outlined by DOL (OSHA), EPA, etc.
  • Exercise continuous leadership to the staff, resolving employee safety related issues/concerns through problem solving and focusing on keeping Safety & Health as a top priority.
  • Sustain communications at all levels of the organization, in EHSS concerns throughout the facility.
  • Chair the EHSS Committee, coordinate its meeting, minutes recordkeeping and follow-up on CA/PA.
  • Coordinate and track progress of government regulations compliance.
  • Direct Plant safety teams and multi-plant safety council.
  • Overview company accident statistics and make recommendations for correction problem areas.
  • Lead & cooperate w/EHSS committee members, department managers and line supervisors in incident investigations, looking for the identification of the root causes and with the implementation of improved processes and/or corrective measures to prevent any reoccurrence.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate the site's comprehensive audits w/EHSS committee members, department managers and line supervisors, helping on the hazard identification, assessment, prevention & control.
  • Perform and record, routine workplace safety walk-through, looking for compliance on HAZCOM, FAK, EWS, Fire Protection, EEL, WWS, LO/TO, EAP, etc. per OSHA requirements.
  • Revise, complete (if needed) and file all necessary documentation and/or reports, in accordance with applicable reporting and record keeping requirements.
  • Manage report & record of injuries and input/send them on Workers' Compensation claims including RTW (Return to Work) program to eventual closure.
  • Assist EHSS Manager on preparing and maintaining accuracy on the records to be submitted annually to all agencies like the EPA's SARA TIER II Report, OSHA 300, BLR report, etc.
  • Provide training on EHSS related topics to employees and contractors (as required)
  • Update the training matrix data, notice of safety violation, accident investigation.
  • Address emergencies, seek input on workplace changes and make improvements.
  • Consistent and punctual attendance each scheduled workday.
  • Arrives at work fit for duty and sustains fitness throughout the day.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of safety experience in a manufacturing setting
  • OSHA 30
  • OSHA 511/510 (Preferred)
  • Bilingual - Spanish
