Materials Clerk

Reporting to the Materials Supervisor will provide efficient and effective support to Materials operations. The primary emphasis of this role is to achieve the best use of equipment, human resources, technology, materials and procedures to enhance the efficiency and productivity of our lines.

Performance Expectations

Complete, file, maintain NAFTA certificates.
Prepare and Mail/Fed Ex RFQ packages – maintain file.
Answer and screen all Materials Manager’s calls.
Update and maintain QS9000 requirements for Materials Department – customer surveys, subcontractors, packaging requirements, etc.
Create and maintain POC graphs and documentation.
All filing, typing and faxing for Materials Manager.
Enter and maintain department meetings minutes and Materials Manager meeting minutes.
Take Purchase Orders to appropriate people for signatures.
Document/Form control.
Enter and maintain Purchase Order data using the AS400.
Update and maintain the purchase order files.

Credentials

Completion of secondary school or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Ability to read lists of products, stock numbers, quantities and prices. Refer to schedules to locate times that trucks will be making deliveries.
Ability to interact with materials staff to take on various tasks. Discuss changes in service policy with supervisors. Communicate with co-workers to co-ordinate schedules and tasks.
Ability to estimate by sight number of tools needed when it is time to reorder supplies. May use graphs to compare performance data over a period of time.
Strong inventory control and stock keeping capabilities. May be short term planning to make sure regular tasks are completed. Plan to ensure that supplies are always on hand.
Ability to work independently. Work as a team with other personnel to ensure that support is there to ensure tools and materials are available for production.
Ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Send e-mail messages to other departments as needed.
Keep up to date on changes in computer technology and with changes in different tools and materials used for production.
