Chief of Staff

The Chief of Staff ("CoS") role will report directly to the VP of HR, supporting the Chief People Officer and will lead critical cross-functional projects and play a key role in ensuring the CPO is prepared and focused on the highest impact strategic initiatives for NEFCU. The CoS will be expected to demonstrate critical thinking skills, prevent challenges, and save time for the leadership of the human resources function.

Responsibilities:

Partner and lead human resources initiatives--operating at the organizational and tactical level to design and execute upon optimal workflows, ensure appropriate organization and align internal processes

Own the management of initiatives and programs from end to end, ensuring the right audiences receive the right information at the right time.

Gain buy-in with key stakeholders and ensure compliance with team member participation in programs and requirements.

Communicate priorities, activities, and results to Leadership and larger organization, while ensuring deliverables are met. Have a strong pulse and feedback loop on organizational needs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with mid-level managers to gain better understanding of business needs and improvements in service of our teams.
  • Lead team meetings, prepare agendas and follow-through on action items. Drive daily/weekly project and program management.
  • Partner with HR team members on their business function initiatives
  • Replicate successful programs, projects and processes
  • Prepare the annual and quarterly reporting and planning process function
  • Pull in the right stakeholders and lead timely retrospectives to constantly iterate and improve our processes
  • Research new processes and technologies to help optimize the way human resources partners with the organization.
  • Use cross-functional knowledge and seek to understand issues, trends, and perspectives that may influence the business processes.
  • Connect the dots for key stakeholders to drive increased alignment across business functions.
  • Craft and prepare CPO's internal communications and presentations.
  • Exemplify empathy, inclusivity and support diversity and belonging across NEFCU; foster NEFCU's culture and team member experience across the board.
  • Function as a trusted confidant and sounding board to HR team on sensitive topics.
Recommended Experience:

The ideal candidate has both hands-on experience and a leadership foundation in the following areas: organization, planning & process, budgeting/financial planning, organizational change, communications & execution.
  • Ability to comfortably dive into any area, come up to speed quickly, understand business needs, and provide background for effective decision making.
  • 5-8 years' experience in combination of operations, product management, program management, strategy, banking, operations, consulting, or an equivalent field.
  • This position requires past experience in managing resourcing/staffing and having worked directly with the C-suite on a regular basis.
  • Ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to success.
  • This position is expected to utilize data and metrics to communicate needs with the ease of a department head.
  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form; ability to collaborate well with peers and executives, and able to lead and influence across multiple levels and multiple functions of an organization.
  • Entrepreneurial, with a high tolerance for ambiguity and complexity, and efficient with limited resources.
  • Proven experience designing planning at a service and partner-centric company.
  • Financial prowess and ability to create budgets, models, etc.
  • A good sounding board for others, with low ego, and ability to anticipate the needs of a busy executive and their direct reports.
  • Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information.
  • Strong emotional intelligence - someone who can read people, understand their motivation and background, understand what their needs/wants and the ability to play to different audiences.
  • Possess other human resources skills- Talent acquisition, payroll and benefits management experience a plus, but not required.

This role will be in the South Burlington and Montpelier on a hybrid schedule -Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.

Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
