JOB SUMMARY: The Chief CRNA is responsible for planning, leading, organizing and developing the staff and services of the Anesthesia service. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Demonstrates leadership ability by managing professional CRNA staff and leading their development. Effectively administers performance management of all anesthesia staff including annual performance evaluations and progressive discipline. Responsible for the day-to-day anesthesia operations including but not limited to staffing (including assignment of daily cases), scheduling, and securing contract/agency staff. Assists with the credentialing process for contract CRNA staff. Responsible for the development, implementation and management of anesthesia department budget. Liaison with physicians and surgeons to help facilitate a cohesive surgical team that creates positive patient outcomes. Responsible for accurate and timely billing of anesthesia services. Maintains and communicates payor compliance standards to all anesthesia staff. Coordinates anesthesia QAPI program. Participates in standing committees including but not limited to OB, ED, Peer Review and epidural Steroid. Adheres to standards of care for anesthesia administration. Updates policies and procedures in accordance with anesthesia standards of care. Demonstrates competence in the clinical practice area. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and continuing education. Demonstrates professional written and verbal skills. Demonstrates professional attitude and interest in work by maintaining acceptable work habits and behavior. Demonstrates knowledge and participates in the education of patients, relatives, and/or visitors. Demonstrates commitment to Customer Service. EDUCATION: A Master's degree in advanced practice nursing is required. Has successfully completed an approved nurse anesthesia training program. Clinical management experience is acceptable. LICENSURE: RN with a current Ohio License. ACLS, NRP and PALS certification are required. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 5 years of CRNA anesthesia experience. Previous experience as a Chief CRNA is preferred. Minimum of two years clinical experience in Anesthesia Administration preferred. Possesses the ability to function effectively during emergencies, in crises, and while under stress. Skilled in the QAPI principles. Effectively communicate with staff, patients and physicians. BLS, NRP, and ACLS certified and Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support certified. Maintains an active membership in Ohio Association of Nurse Anesthetists, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Obtains anesthesia continuing education appropriate for recertification.
