Overview:

Wage Range: $115,252.80-$188,905.60 The Nurse Manager coordinates the nursing aspect of patient care for specific nursing departments utilizing a yearly operational budget in coordination with the DNS for the nursing division. The Nurse Manager is responsible for a working knowledge of the medical/legal and accreditation aspects of nursing for their own department. The Nurse Manager provides direct supervision of the RN's, LPN's, CNA's, Unit clerks in their department. The Nurse Manager works with the shift supervisor to coordinate the activities of the department for the 24 hour period. The Nurse Manager is responsible to the VP of Nursing. Responsibilities: Personal Traits, Qualities, and Aptitudes: Must be able to 1) Accept responsibility for the coordination of all patient care activities. 2) Perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. 3) Make evaluations and decisions based on measurable or verifiable criteria. 4) Work independently. 5) Recognize and protect patient rights. 6) Convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, grief, or trauma. 7) Set an example that creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation. 8) Communicate effectively and therapeutically with people from every socioeconomic background. 9) Incorporate guest relations in daily activities. B. Working Conditions: Inside environment, protected from the weather but not necessarily temperature changes. Subject at times to infection, contagious disease, and hazardous materials and equipment. May be subjected to combative patients. Variable noise levels. C. Physical Demands/Traits: Must be able to 1) perceive the nature of sounds by ear; 2) express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; 3) perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes; 4) extend arms and hands in any direction; 5) seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands; 6) pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers; 7) perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and 8) stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Continuous walking and standing. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors. Rare lifting of greater than 100 pounds. 9) May need to be able to sit for long periods of time.

Qualifications: A. Education Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Evidence of continuing education appropriate for nurse manager and specific area. Desired: BSN in nursing, certificate in specialty area B. Experience Required: Charge nurse or supervisory experience Desired: Previous manager experience. C. Licenses, Certificates and/or Registrations Current RN license in the State of Oregon, ACLS, PALS required for ED/CCU/Med Surg; certification in specialty area preferred. D. Equipment/Tools/Work Aides Infusion pumps, PCA pumps, and other medical equipment, computer terminal printer, photocopier, and patient charts. E. Specialized Knowledge and Skills Possesses knowledge of the scope and complexity of the patient's age-specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial well-being served by the hospital. Mathematical computational skills, able to communicate therapeutically. Self-motivated, responsible, role model, well organized. F. Other Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse population.
