Overview

The Certified Nursing Midwife is a registered nurse with an advanced degree in midwifery. This position may work in birthing centers, private practices and hospitals or outpatient and home births. The position predominantly works with labor and delivery, but also can provide comprehensive reproductive health care for women of all ages. The role also assists with family planning and can provide referrals to other healthcare providers. Provides medical care for women’s reproductive health and childbirth. Their duties include providing reproductive care, family planning services and recordkeeping.


This position's work location is on site only.


Responsibilities

Patient Care
* Provides prenatal and postpartum care for pregnant women.

* Cares for and tends to patients and newborns during labor and delivery.

* Performs routine gynecological care, including exams.

* Educates patients on parenting and family planning.

* Maintains patient medical records.

* Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and refers patients to specialists when necessary.

* Tests for and diagnoses various medical conditions.

* Provides emotional support for expectant and new mothers.

Education
* Participates in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidenced based practice and research.

* Focuses on personal development areas, engaging in professional/collegial interactions with peers and students.

Compliance/Safety
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.

* If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame.

* Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.


Qualifications

Education
BSN - Required


Certification & Licensures
Active, unrestricted RN license state of Arizona- Required

Completion of Certified Nursing Midwife Graduate Degree Program and certificate obtained - Required


Experience
1 -3 years experience in midwifery - Preferred

Two years RX experience- Preferred

Ability to handle high-pressure situations and remain calm.

Fast decision-making, especially in emergency situations if issues arise during labor and delivery.

Interpersonal skills to develop professional relationships with patients.

Strong written and verbal communication skills to help patients understa

nd their options and potential implications.

Collaborative skills to work with other medical care providers.

Ability to teach patients about parenting and medical care.

Ability to listen to the patient's wishes while providing sound medical advice.

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
