About the Facility - Indianapolis VAMC (Roudebush VAMC)
The Indianapolis VAMC provides both inpatient and outpatient care through multiple locations in Central Indiana. The center provides nearly 70,000 Veterans and their dependents with medical, psychiatric, neurological, and rehabilitation services annually.

CNA - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
  • The CNA assists patients with daily activities like dressing, bathing, eating, and getting around.
  • Help patients maintain good hygiene by assisting with tasks like brushing teeth and washing hair.
  • Keep an eye on patients' well-being and report any changes in temperature, mood, or pain to nurses.
  • The CNA assists nurses with preparing patients for tests, treatments, and surgery. This might involve taking vital signs, collecting samples, and changing dressings.
  • Help create a safe environment for patients by preventing falls and responding calmly to emergencies.
  • Talk clearly and kindly with patients, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Treat patients with dignity and respect their privacy.
  • Accompany patients on trips within the hospital for tests or treatments.
  • Recognize and take appropriate action in emergency situations.
  • The CNA works alongside nurses and other healthcare providers to ensure patients receive the best possible care.
CNA - REQUIREMENTS
  • Current licensure as a Certified Nurse Assistant in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year above HS in an accredited institution with courses related to nursing care, health care, or in a field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position, OR -
    • One year of specialized experience as an NA or experience in another medical field (LPN, health technician, hospital corpsman, etc.), performing technical and nursing skills requiring knowledge of the human physical and emotional states, therapeutic communication, and technical skills required for basic and intermediate treatments. OR -
    • Successful completion of 2 years above high school in an accredited institution with courses related to nursing care, health care, or in a field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position, such as education in a program for psychology, psychiatric, or operating room technicians.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years.
  • Has and maintains current BCLS certification.
  • Can provide nursing care for adult medical/surgical, ICU, ER, Surgical Services, Mental Health, and Procedural Medicine departments.
  • Must have US citizenship.
