Position Overview:
  • As a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) specializing in Long Term Care, you will provide essential support to residents in a nursing home or long-term care facility. Your compassionate care and assistance will enhance the quality of life for residents while ensuring their safety and comfort.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Observe and report changes in residents' physical and emotional conditions to nursing staff, ensuring timely interventions.
  • Help residents with mobility, including transferring them to and from beds, wheelchairs, and other assistive devices.
  • Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for residents by adhering to safety protocols and infection control measures.
  • Maintain accurate records of residents' care and activities, documenting any changes or concerns as necessary.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, engaging them in conversation and activities to enhance their well-being.
  • Assist with meal service, ensuring residents receive the appropriate diet and monitoring their intake.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing and support staff to provide holistic care to residents and maintain a positive care environment.
  • Follow facility policies and procedures, including those related to resident rights, confidentiality, and care standards.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a state-approved CNA training program.

Licensure/Certifications:
  • Active CNA certification in Michigan.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred.

Experience:
  • Previous experience in a long-term care setting is preferred but not required.

Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, compassion, patience, and the ability to work effectively with elderly residents.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move residents safely, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks associated with patient care.
